GENERAL INFORMATION

At The Writing Center, we work hard to create a supportive writing community for 6th through 12th grade Capital Region students who love to write.  In addition to our writing programs, our partnership with the Times Union newspaper  rewards the hardest working writers with training in journalism and photography. 

At The Writing Center, you will find opportunities to write across many different genres and through all kinds of media.  Have an idea?  Propose it.  Curious to learn something?  We'll help you take it on.  If you have an interest that relates to writing in some way, the odds are that you'll find someone here who is interested too. 

The Writing Center is located in down town Schenectady, right across from the post office and city hall.  Our facilities include a youth newsroom and a small computer center with internet access.  A comfortable gathering spot for young writers, our center is also the home of The Aeonian Review, a literary journal publishing the finest writing and art from Capital Region youth.
